Located on the banks of the Songhua River, Jilin Petrochemical oversees 67 key pieces of equipment, 115 types of refined products, and thousands of operational positions, along with numerous environmental monitoring points. Its underground sewage system spans hundreds of square kilometers across the chemical industrial area, with three major pipelines acting like the factory’s “main arteries,” transporting domestic wastewater and industrial effluent to the Jilin Petrochemical Sewage Treatment Plant for processing. The network includes 435 wellheads, making it a complex and critical infrastructure.

In response to the Lanzhou water pollution incident, Jilin Petrochemical conducted thorough safety checks and hazard remediation in the Jiangbei area, focusing on pipelines that impact public safety. With spring marking a construction peak, the company increased inspection frequency, conducting twice-daily checks. Additionally, they distributed business cards to local residential areas, internet cafes, and restaurants, enabling prompt reporting of any subsidence or issues. To prevent incidents such as fireworks being thrown into manholes, the company distributed informational leaflets to nearby communities, raising awareness about the risks of flammable and explosive materials entering the pipeline system. Furthermore, to enhance pedestrian safety, the company installed anti-fall nets over manholes, introduced reinforced manhole covers, and promptly repaired or replaced damaged ones, improving the overall safety of the "Chemical City" for its residents.
