Decoration knowledge: how to distinguish between good and bad aluminum alloy doors and windows

1. Processing of Aluminum Alloy Doors and Windows

When working with aluminum alloy doors and windows, it's essential to ensure the surface of the material is clean and free from oil stains, aluminum shavings, burrs, or any other contaminants. When embedding any strip, avoid over-stretching it. The strip should be approximately 10 mm longer than the groove where it will be inserted. It should be wrapped around once, and the joint should be aligned at the corner of the frame without being cut into multiple sections.

All joints, hardware, and metal linings used in the construction of aluminum alloy doors and windows should undergo surface anti-corrosion treatment, except for stainless steel components.

The glass block must be made of hard rubber or plastic. Avoid using reclaimed rubber, wood chips, or other absorbent materials that may compromise the quality or performance of the product.

After assembly, the bead should be firm, and the gap between the edges should not exceed 1 mm. This ensures a tight fit and prevents air or water leakage.

The overlap between the glass and the window frame should be measured from the edge of the frame and the sash. Each side must have an overlap of at least 8 mm (for double-glazed units, the aluminum spacer should not be visible). A proper glass spacer must be placed under the glass during assembly to maintain alignment and stability.

2. Installation of Aluminum Alloy Doors and Windows

Before installation, determine the vertical, horizontal (elevation), and wall thickness positions carefully. When installing the window frame, leave a 5-8 mm gap between the frame and the opening. Ensure that the gaps on the top and bottom are evenly distributed. For the side frames, the connecting piece should be at least 2 mm thick to provide sufficient structural support.

The diagonal deviation of the installed window frame should not exceed 2.0 mm. The vertical deviation of the front and side frames, including splicing materials, should also be no more than 2.0 mm. The horizontal deviation of the window frame, including splicing parts, should not go beyond 1.5 mm, and the elevation error should not exceed 5.0 mm.

For fixing the window frame, use expansion bolts directly when installing the net port. Tighten the screws properly with a screwdriver—never strike them with a hammer. When using burrs, fix the frame through the connecting piece using expansion bolts attached to the wall. Regardless of the method used, the fixing points should not be spaced more than 600 mm apart, and each fixing member should be embedded at least 50 mm into the structural body.

Once the door and window frames are installed, they should remain straight, without any warping, bending, or deformation that could affect the operation of the sashes. Before installing the glass, remove all mortar and debris from the frame to ensure the drainage holes are clear. After the sash is in place, the surface should be clean, free from large pits, scratches, dents, or rust. The sealant should be smooth, even, and free of bubbles for a professional finish.

All finished components must be fully installed and securely fixed. There should be no missing parts or misalignment. The sealing strips should be even and firmly attached after assembly. The corners of the frame should be tightly bonded without any gaps or uneven seams. No broken ends should be present to maintain the integrity of the structure.
