In winter, Shatian pomegranate trees with a large number of leaves tend to accumulate fewer nutrients. To address this, it is recommended to spray the leaves once every 7 to 10 days during the early stages of winter and early spring. The foliar spray should consist of 0.1% borax, 0.1% magnesium sulfate, 0.2% urea, 0.3% potassium dihydrogen phosphate, 800 times diluted high-organic humic acid active liquid fertilizer, and 1500 times diluted Shen Nong's Su Ao Hefei mixture. Apply this solution 5 to 6 times in a row, ensuring even coverage on all leaves until droplets begin to fall.
This method helps replenish essential nutrients through the leaves, revitalize the tree, and improve flower quality. Stronger flower buds lead to more pollen production, increased vitality, better pollination, and ultimately a higher fruit set rate. By maintaining proper nutrient levels, the overall health of the tree is enhanced, leading to improved yield and fruit quality.
Additionally, foliar feeding can be especially beneficial during periods of environmental stress or when soil nutrient availability is limited. It provides a quick and effective way to support the tree’s growth and flowering process. Regular monitoring of leaf color, size, and overall tree condition is also advised to ensure optimal results. This practice not only boosts the tree’s resilience but also contributes to long-term productivity and sustainability in Shatian pomegranate cultivation.
