NASA has developed a new electric stealth aircraft called the "Puffin," designed for single-person flights. This innovative aircraft can take off vertically, similar to a helicopter, but once airborne, it transitions into a fixed-wing configuration, allowing it to fly efficiently like a traditional airplane. This capability is somewhat similar to the V-22 Osprey used by the U.S. Marine Corps, but the Puffin stands out with its unique design and advanced technology.
Powered entirely by an electric motor, the Puffin is significantly quieter than conventional aircraft. At a flying height of 150 meters, it produces only 50 decibels of noise—comparable to normal conversation. This makes it much quieter than current low-noise helicopters, with a noise reduction of up to ten times. In addition to being silent, the Puffin is also difficult to detect due to its use of carbon fiber composites, which help reduce its radar signature.
