Analysis on the development trend of polystyrene
Polystyrene copolymers In addition to aBS and SaN, there are some other copolymers that have industrial application value. These copolymers are:
A block copolymer of styrene and butadiene, referred to as K resin, is anionically polymerized by butyllithium with a butadiene content of about 25%. K resin has good transparency, good impact resistance, acid and alkali resistance, low price and good processing performance.
2. Copolymer of styrene and methyl methacrylate, acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene-methyl methacrylate tetrapolymer, can produce aBS resin with good permeability, called (MaBS), MaBS Good transparency, good mechanical strength, good thermal stability and good low temperature impact resistance. The copolymer of methyl methacrylate-butadiene-benzenediene is called MBS, the transparency of MBS is good, the refractive index of PVC is similar, and the compatibility with PVC is good, and it is used as a PVC improver.
3. Acrylonitrile, chlorinated polyethylene, styrene ternary graft copolymer (called aCS resin), aCS resin has good flame retardancy, good weather resistance and good antistatic property.
4. A ternary copolymer of acrylonitrile, styrene copolymerized and grafted polyacrylate rubber, called aSa resin, aSa resin has excellent mechanical properties, acid and alkali resistance, excellent weather resistance and UV resistance.
5. A graft copolymer of ethylene propylene diene monomer (ethylene-propylene-diene copolymer, EPDM) with styrene and acrylonitrile, called aES resin. aES resin has good weather resistance, good thermal stability, good impact resistance and acid and alkali resistance.
6. Copolymer of styrene and α-methylstyrene. The addition of α-methylstyrene monomer to the binary or ternary copolymer of styrene improves the mechanical properties of the polymer.
In the polymerization process of styrene, in some special occasions, a reaction processing method may be selected, and a monomer may be added to the screw of the reaction extrusion apparatus to carry out bulk polymerization to obtain a high molecular weight styrene polymer. This is a method of increasing the molecular weight of styrene polymers.
