Pre-warning of British solar smart bins

British solar smart bins "prewarning" before filling

A smart trash bin is being trialled in Merton, southwest London (pictured).

It can hold 8 times its original garbage volume, and send an email or SMS “prewarning” when the content reaches 85%. It is known as the world’s most advanced bin.

Smart enough

This kind of garbage bin is named "Daweiwang Solar Waste Bin" and is manufactured by the United States "Daweiwang Solar" company.

From the outside, it is an ordinary black bin with a handle above the front. The secret of intelligence lies in the availability of solar panels, garbage compressors and computer processing systems.

It is powered by a 12-volt battery pack and can run for up to 3 weeks at a time when fully charged. The power of the battery pack is provided by a solar panel, which only requires 8 hours of light per month to meet the all-weather operation of the electronic system in the bin.

The built-in garbage compressor is equipped with a wireless monitoring system, which facilitates real-time monitoring of the garbage collection department through a computer or smartphone. When the contents of the bin reaches 85% of its contents, it will automatically send an e-mail or SMS to the “master” to remind the “master” to come and clean up, avoiding the overflow of garbage and the cross-flow of juice on the ground.

"Great stomach king"

The waste container has a capacity of 567 liters and the garbage compressor can provide 5.3 kilonewtons of pressure, thereby packing 6 to 8 times the volume of the trash. The compressor uses a chain drive and is more "dirtier" than the hydraulic device.

Users can check whether the bin is full on line weekly or monthly. In the schematic diagram of the “Earth King Telemetry System” published in the “Daily Mail” of the UK, the left side of the map shows the specific location of the trash, and the right side of the table shows the change of available volume of the trash can in terms of green, yellow and red.

According to the introduction of Daweiwang Solar Company on the official website, after using the “Daweiwang” bin, it can reduce the number of bins on the street by up to 86%, and save manpower and financial resources by reducing the number of garbage trucks dispatched.

more economics

The rent for this rubbish bin is rented for 5 years and costs £1,000 per year (about $1600). It does not seem to be cheap.

The Merton area rents a total of 30 "Eat King" litter bins and the trial run time is one year. According to calculations, if the bin purchase fees, cleaners' expenses, and garbage truck fuel costs are all taken into account, they will reduce local waste disposal expenses by up to 70%.

Merton District Council member Mark Beitrich said: "The rubbish bins are amazing. They will not only make our park cleaner, but also make our work more efficient."

"Summer is coming. We hope that everyone will go to the park. There are not only diving pools, playgrounds, trails and picnic areas, but also things that are closely related to everyone." (Qiao Ying)
