Plessi - Silicon-based GaN LED Modular Smart Lighting



Plessey Semiconductors demonstrated its modular intelligent lighting system using silicon-on-resin GaN LED technology at LuxLive at the 2015 British Lighting Fair.

Pleshy’s Totem system was developed in cooperation with Manchester’s product design company, inventid. The Totem system is based on the original concept of lighting solutions for the Internet of Things.

“Our LED technology allows more integrated solutions than traditional white LED components. Design-free integrated smart LED design freedom ensures that end applications have more powerful features such as dimming capabilities, light color adjustment, Automatic switch control and remote operation can be integrated into silicon-based gallium nitride MAGIC LEDs, said Neil Harper, product line director at Plessis.

The first application invented by the inventid team at LuxLive in 2015 was the concept of a “hands-free” home. The Totem system also includes other modules such as ambient light sensors, sounds and real-time clocks that can be fully controlled by consumers, providing dual functions of addressable and reactive smart lighting products. So we designed the Totem system to handle the real human needs of safety, health, energy management and entertainment.

Inventid co-founder Henry James said: "We believe that successful products are 'time, place, and people'. Lighting will change the use of space because They illuminate every room in each home and have a way and potential to reach people that no other product can reach.Same as you do when talking on the phone with your hands, you can move freely in your room and speak through the speakerphone system. Using a light bulb to perform this function is a gift for genius."

The technical and design experts at Placid's booth E26 will present their products at LuxLive, London's largest lighting show. Placie will display the latest products in the fields of commercial lighting, industrial lighting, consumer lighting and wearable lighting.
