With the development of IoT technology, the power supply of IoT devices has become one of the obstacles restricting the development of IoT. The contradiction between battery capacity and power supply of IoT devices is also becoming more and more significant. However, due to technical limitations, existing wireless energy transmission technologies cannot simultaneously achieve safe, long-distance, high-power wireless energy transmission.

To this end, the researchers proposed a resonant beam charging technology that uses all-solid-state laser cavity light as a wireless energy transmission medium, which can safely transmit several watts of wireless power to a distance of several meters. Resonant beam charging technology is intrinsically safe. Once there is a foreign object in the transmission channel, not only can the energy transmission be automatically cut off, but the organisms outside the transmission channel will not be affected by energy leakage. In addition, the resonant beam charging system can also achieve automatic alignment and simultaneous multiple output.

The researchers established an analytical model of the resonant beam charging energy transmission channel, and analyzed the continuous and stable operating conditions of the resonant beam charging system and the energy transmission efficiency within the working distance; experimentally and theoretically, the transmission distance of the resonant beam charging system, Performances such as transmission efficiency and output electric power were evaluated.

The researchers said that by further improving the mobility of the resonant cavity, the technology is expected to be widely used in remote wireless charging of electronic devices such as mobile phones. (Reporter Huang Xin)
