The Influencing Factors of Oscillation in NTN Bearings

Source: China Bearing Network | Date: June 29, 2013

The oscillation in NTN bearings is a key performance characteristic that affects the overall behavior and longevity of the bearing. This oscillation is primarily caused by mechanical vibrations generated during operation. These vibrations are transmitted through elastic waves in the surrounding medium, such as air, and can be perceived by the human ear, resulting in what we commonly refer to as sound or noise. Human hearing is sensitive to both frequency and intensity of sound, and prolonged exposure to excessive noise can lead to physiological or psychological discomfort. In the context of bearings, the working noise of NTN bearings is considered an important quality indicator. It is measured under specific conditions—such as when the bearing is operating on its inner ring, with the outer ring surface being the source—and recorded as the sound pressure level at a certain angle from the microphone. To ensure accurate measurement, the axial load applied to the NTN bearing must be evenly distributed across the outer ring via three flexible, equally spaced negative cymbals. The alignment of the load application line with the axis of the mandrel should not exceed 0.20 mm for coaxiality and 0.05 mm for straightness. Additionally, the stiffness of the load pad should not interfere with the natural oscillation of the bearing, and the resonant frequency of the system should remain outside the range of the bearing's own oscillation frequency. While oscillation and noise are related, they are distinct phenomena. User requirements often differ depending on the application. For example, in automotive or aerospace applications, low noise levels are typically more critical. However, in precision machinery such as machine tools, minimizing oscillation becomes the priority. In many cases, noise measurements are more commonly used due to their simplicity and availability of equipment. Although oscillation and noise are different, they often correlate within a specific frequency range, making noise measurement a practical alternative in many scenarios.

Alcohol Mass Flow Meter

Zhejiang Sealand Technology Co., Ltd. is a trustworthy manufacturer of Alcohol Mass Flow Meter, Alcohol Mass Flowmeter, Alcohol Coriolis Meter, Mass Flow Meter Alcohol, Coriolis Mass Meter Alcohol, ATEX, IECEx & CE approved.

Sealand meter is designed and produced according to world`s latest Coriolis technology with better appearance, stability and accuracy to measure mass flow rate of a fluid traveling through a tube, widely applied to alternative energy, oil & gas, chemical, food & beverage, industrial energy, marine, power, pulp & paper, water & wastewater industries, etc.

Mass flow meter measures the mass based on Coriolis effort. The operating principle involves inducing a vibration of the tube through which the fluid passes. The vibration, though not completely circular, provides the rotating reference frame that gives rise to the Coriolis effect. While specific methods vary according to the design of the flow meter, sensors monitor and analyze changes in frequency, phase shift & amplitude of the vibrating flow tubes. The changes observed represent the mass flow rate and density of the fluid.
