The reporter learned from the Liangjiang New Area on the 23rd that the 8.5-generation LCD glass substrate back-end processing plant invested by Corning in the United States officially settled in the Liangjiang New Area Water and Soil Industry Development Zone. After the completion of the factory, it will increase local production capacity and serve Chinese panel makers such as BOE to boost the development of Chongqing LCD panel industry chain. At present, the project is in the stage of land leveling and plant design, and it is expected to start during the year.
As a core part of the LCD panel industry chain, Corning mainly manufactures glass substrates and is in the upstream stage of the display panel industry. Following the establishment of an LCD glass melting and post-processing plant in Beijing, Corning's settlement in Chongqing became the second glass substrate production base for Corning's mainland China. It is understood that Corning's first layout in western China is optimistic about the rapid development of the electronic information industry in the central and western markets and the high concentration of Chongqing's electronic industry cluster.
With the rapid growth of emerging digital electronic products such as smart phones, tablets, and ultrabooks, LCD products have great potential in China's market development. The important role of Corning LCD glass substrates in the development of the electronics industry is increasingly prominent. Driven by strong demand for LCD glass substrates, the Chongqing project will enable Corning's localized supply to serve Chinese panel makers more efficiently.
Zhang Wei, deputy general manager of Corning Display Technologies Global Business Group, said: "We are very pleased with this investment. Chongqing has advanced and modern infrastructure, which is very suitable for investment. Chongqing is also known as the 'notebook capital', it is right The importance of the IT and display industries gives them a strategic position in investment. Investing in a new factory in Chongqing can help us better serve Chinese customers."
The relevant person in charge of the management committee of Liangjiang New District said that the new area has formed a panel industry cluster of Liangjiang New Area with the BOE and Lehigh high-tech projects as the core of the industrial chain.

Steel poles are commonly used to carry several types of electric power lines, distribution lines and lighting system.  Distribution lines carry power from local substations to customers. They generally carry voltages from 4.6 to 33kV for distances up to 30 miles, and include transformers to step the voltage down from the primary voltage to the lower secondary voltage used by the customer. A service drop carries this lower voltage to the customer's premises.
