In the era of standard definition, after more than 20 years of development, CCTV has developed to the extreme, regardless of the cost of analog cameras, the effect has reached the best price/performance ratio. However, in the high-definition era, due to the technological changes in the sensor industry, due to the increase in the amount of high-definition video data, new challenges in camera acquisition and transmission have arisen. This is also the core of our HD camera development and production: how to dock a variety of high-definition sensors, and debug image quality that meets the monitoring needs, and how to solve the video transmission problem of HD network cameras.

The first question is how to dock various HD sensors and debug the image quality that meets the monitoring needs.

This is the common key to all HD camera solutions. On the one hand, the high-definition sensor is switched from CCD technology to CMOS (this is determined by many aspects such as process and cost). In addition, various CMOS sensor manufacturers do not provide a dedicated ISP (CCTV era Called DSP), the ISP module must be purchased separately, which leads to the development and production of a high-definition camera. The technical requirements for docking sensor+ISP are relatively high.

At present, many sensor companies (SONY, panasonic, aptina, omnivision, sharp, Altasens, etc.) have launched high-definition CMOS solutions, but in addition to SONY has its own ISP (ISP: Image Signal Processor), other companies are independent. The Sensor needs to be configured with an ISP outside, but because of the high-definition monitoring, there are few independent ISP solutions, and there is still lack of flexibility in docking various sensors, not to mention the negative factors such as cost and sensor board size. So a good ISP solution is the key to solving the problem of HD camera effects.

Wide dynamics, color reproduction, noise reduction, low illumination and other factors are the key to affecting image quality. In different application environments such as intelligent transportation, finance, and safe city, people have different requirements for high-definition cameras. CMOS sensor processing effects and CCD Compared with some differences, the ISP's processing is a guarantee for the adaptation of various application scenarios.

When designing Hi3516, a high-definition network camera chip, Haisi decided to embed the ISP system in the chip considering the final system cost, power consumption, and effect debugging. The module was designed with each other at the beginning. The sensor factory closely cooperates with the technical roadmap and carries out targeted technical design for the characteristics of each sensor. Various image processing techniques such as dead pixel correction, 2D/3D noise reduction, 3A processing, WDR, low illumination, edge enhancement, digital image stabilization, dynamic contrast enhancement, and the like. The application of these technologies has corrected some of the shortcomings of the sensor and can effectively improve the HD effect. Haisi ISP has successfully docked with the above-mentioned sensor manufacturer's high-definition sensor, which has greatly solved the customer's investment in this aspect. In particular, the sensor companies' interfaces are different, matching in advance, reducing the peripheral FPGA transfer, and improving the customer's TTM. It also reduces the cost of customer BOM.

The 3A algorithm is the basic indicator for testing ISPs. While providing an appropriate 3A algorithm for customers, HiSile ISP also provides a replaceable platform for companies with their own 3A processing algorithms, while reducing the threshold of the entire industry. Different companies are provided with differentiated protection. After all, the demand in each market segment is different. There is no single algorithm that can satisfy all markets. It is also a realistic need for each family to adjust their 3A according to different manufacturers.

First of all, the wide dynamic effect is the hotspot of various application scenarios, and it is also an important propaganda focus of each sensor. HiSili's Hi3516 wants customers to think about it, introducing two wide dynamic modes, one for all sensor general algorithms. In addition, it is aimed at an algorithm like aptina with HDR-specific technology. Noise is a video taboo, especially the CMOS technology itself and the CCD are somewhat different in the noise caused by insufficient light, which greatly affects the HD experience. Haisi ISP has two modules, 2D and 3D, which have a great improvement in noise reduction.

In addition to the ISP and sensor pairing algorithm, how to debug is actually the key. Because the layout of the sensor board is different, it will directly affect the final effect of the sensor. Therefore, we need to debug the sensor and ISP. Because of the thousands of registers of the sensor, On various combinations, it is very difficult to debug a result that meets the needs. Haisi takes into account the industry efficiency problem and provides you with a PC directly using IPS TOOLS. This tool combines various effects adjustments and register combinations through various algorithms. Correlation avoids the pain of the client to adjust the register as soon as it comes up. At the same time, the customer can debug the register according to his own experience, keeping the common scene and special application. So the status of ISP and ISP tools is equally important.
