Anhui Provincial Department of Science and Technology: Increased output of hybrid rapeseed varieties by more than 900 million yuan

The reporter recently learned from the Provincial Department of Science and Technology that the province’s “Eleventh Five-Year Plan” major scientific and technological research project has achieved important progress in the selection and development of new hybrid rapeseed varieties, and has obtained a number of scientific research achievements. The area planted by rape in our province ranks second in the country and is the second largest crop after rice and wheat. In order to improve the scientific and technological level of the rapeseed industry, during the “11th Five-Year Plan” period, our province has improved the selection and breeding of high-quality, high-yield and dual-use rapeseed varieties through the major scientific and technological special projects for quality improvement. The project combines modern biotechnology and traditional breeding methods. Using the recessive upper interaction nuclear sterility molecular marker selection technology system of Brassica napus as a platform, eight recessive upper interaction nuclear sterility gene molecular markers were screened out. Completed the three-line selection and breeding methods of recessive upper interaction nuclear sterility of Brassica napus. In 2007, it won the second prize of national technical invention. In this project, two nuclear hybrid rapeseed varieties, Nuoyou 202 and Nuoyou 56 were bred, and 3 high-oleic acid and low-hybrid hybrid combinations were prepared. The rapeseed varieties adapted to mechanized harvest were initially screened out and a small area harvesting experiment was conducted. These achievements have made important contributions to improving the competitiveness of rapeseed industry in our province and increasing the income of farmers.
