The development of biogas in rural areas has a strong momentum to generate large energy

This year, new breakthroughs have been made in the use of biogas in rural areas in China. To this end, Dong Baocheng, director of the Biogas Research Office at the Ministry of Agriculture’s Planning and Design Institute, said: “China is the most successful country in which household biogas is used.”

At present, China's rural biogas has basically formed the construction model of “one pool of three reforms” (biogas digesters, reforming the laps, changing toilets and changing kitchens), and formed “Pig-Marsh-Fruit”, “Pig-Marsh-Cup”, etc. "Aquaculture - biogas - planting" development model of circular agriculture.

The development momentum of biogas is strong. With the depletion of traditional energy sources and the deteriorating environmental climate, biogas, as a new type of renewable clean energy, has received increasing attention both at home and abroad. The rural areas in China are used for livestock waste, straw and other wastes. The advantages of household biogas development are strong.

“This biogas digester not only solves the problem of burning water for cooking in my family, but also grows crops and fish. My family’s life has changed so much,” said one villager in Quttian Village, Qianshan Township, Changsha County, Hunan Province. At present, the village has basically formed a “Pig-Muma-Flower Wood, Pig-Muma-fishing” ecological farming mode, which has become a well-known million yuan rich village. Today, the construction of biogas in rural areas is on the rise.

According to data from the Ministry of Agriculture, by the end of 2008, China had 30.5 million household biogas, an increase of nearly 4 million households compared to 2007, accounting for about 21% of suitable households. In addition, according to the plan issued by the Ministry of Agriculture in 2007, by 2010, 40 million rural households will use biogas to reach 30% of suitable farmers.

Dong Baocheng pointed out that the popularization rate of biogas construction suitable for rural households is not high, and there is a huge space for development. The general public has a high degree of enthusiasm for building biogas, and there are situations where projects, projects, and projects are expected to exist. The state has policies, regulations, and funds. The support of China's biogas development is a major advantage.

Since 2000, the Ministry of Agriculture has increased the construction of rural biogas projects and has organized and implemented a number of beneficial agricultural projects. After 2003, the Central Document No. 1 for many consecutive years set forth clear requirements for accelerating the construction of biogas in rural areas and trained a team of 170,000 biogas producers who understand technology, will construct, and can maintain. With regard to capital investment, as of 2009, the central government has invested a total of 24.2 billion yuan.

Small biogas forms a large energy source in Pingshang Village, Changsheng Town, Ningdu County, Ganzhou City, Jiangxi Province. Most farmers use biogas. An 8-m3 small biogas digester saves them a lot of trouble. Prior to this, farmers in the village could only use water for cooking.

Today, the village can no longer see the scene of smog and dung. “Open the methane stove valve and you can boil water and cook. The animal dung is collected and dumped into the digester. There are even fewer flies and mosquitoes. We also live like city people," said one villager with a smile. According to reports, a small biogas digester can help farmers save most of their fertilizer and fuel money. The use of fertilization can also increase the production of food and vegetables. Each household can increase revenue by around 800 yuan.

In the country, the Ministry of Agriculture estimates that as of the end of 2008, 30.5 million households using biogas and farm biogas projects will produce about 12.2 billion cubic meters of biogas annually, producing about 385 million tons of biogas, and using biogas equivalent to replacing 18.5 million tons of standard coal. , Reduce emissions of more than 45 million tons of carbon dioxide, instead of fuelwood equivalent to 110 million acres of forest land in the annual accumulation of annual direct savings for farmers to save 15 billion yuan, nearly 100 million farmers benefit. By 2010, 40 million households will use biogas to increase farmers' annual income by 20 billion yuan.

"Compared with conventional energy sources, biogas has a very small proportion, but it has actually formed a large energy source for income generation," said Dong Baocheng.

Raising the use of biogas in the future Although China's rural household biogas is at the forefront of the world, “but the rural biogas uses single livestock excrement as raw material. With the change of farming methods, the shortage of the biogas has become increasingly prominent. As a centralized gas supply or biogas power generation, The stable source of raw materials has become a major difficulty in the utilization of biogas, said Dong Baocheng.

"Straw is a very good biogas feedstock that can be applied in large areas," said the person in charge of the Ministry of Agriculture's biogas project. It is estimated that by 2010, China's main crop straw production will reach about 900 million tons, of which about half can be used as raw materials. According to relevant experts, the utilization rate of straw in China is very low, resulting in a large amount of straw used to produce less than 1% of biogas.

In response, Dong Baocheng stated that China is vigorously developing straw utilization technology, and has achieved great success in the pilot areas in the south. In the future, there will be bright prospects for the nationwide use of straw utilization technology, and the shortage of raw materials for biogas will be fundamentally improved.

In addition, China is still actively exploring the CDM (Clean Development Mechanism) import of biogas projects. “The Ministry of Agriculture will continue to promote the development of biogas and hope to fully introduce CDM into China’s biogas construction, further promote substantive cooperation with developed countries and relevant international organizations in the development of CDM projects for biogas projects, and organize training to enhance CDM development capabilities in the agricultural sector.” Agriculture Yang Xiongnian, deputy director of the Department of Science and Education, said.
