Southwest Aluminum and Central South University jointly develop aluminum and aluminum alloy hot rolling technology and reach international advanced level

Recently, the scientific and technological achievements of “Aluminum and Aluminum Alloys Modern Hot Continuous Rolling Technology and Process Development” jointly developed by Chinalco Southwestern Aluminum Strip Co., Ltd. and Central South University were identified by the Ministry of Nonferrous Metals Industry. The expert group unanimously held that the overall technical achievements have reached the international advanced level, and the promotion and application of this technology as soon as possible is of great significance to the revitalization of China's aluminum processing industry.

Chinalco Southwest Aluminium Strip Co., Ltd. built China's first aluminum and aluminum alloy hot rolling production line with world advanced level in June 2005. The main equipment was imported from abroad. After many years of process development and technological innovation by Southwest Aluminum and Central South University. And production practices, has now successfully developed a mature and complete aluminum and aluminum alloy production process, in the production practice can be successfully used for the enterprise to create considerable economic benefits.

The appraisal committee consists of Zuo Tiejun, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Niu Yinjian, vice president of the China Nonferrous Metals Industry Association, and experts from Tsinghua University, Beijing University of Science and Technology, Beijing Nonferrous Metal Research Institute, and Dongbei Light Alloy Co., Ltd. The expert group listened to the report of the members of the project team of Southwest Aluminum's "Aluminum and Aluminum Alloy Modern Hot Continuous Rolling Technology and Process Development" team at the appraisal meeting. Through the inquiry and discussion methods, the technology integrated innovation, meets production standards, and social benefits. The scientific appraisals were made on economic and other aspects. The appraisal committee believes that the overall technology of the scientific and technological achievements has reached the international advanced level. The appraisal committee unanimously agreed with the appraisal of the project, and suggested that this scientific and technological achievement be promoted and used as soon as possible in order to improve the overall level of aluminum strip processing technology in China.
