"Home Kitchen Equipment" National Standard Revision Conference held in Nanjing On December 7th, the first working meeting of the National Standard Revision Working Group of GB/T18884-2002 "Home Kitchen Equipment" was held in Nanjing. Liu Yunfeng, deputy secretary-general of China National Hardware Association, attended and chaired the meeting.

Liu Gang, executive deputy director of the National Standardization Center for Daily Use Hardware, said that the current National Standard for Domestic Kitchen Equipment (GB/T18884-2002) was initiated in 2000 when the need for revision of the standard was established. There is a huge difference between development status and product level. In the revision of this standard, the drafting group should implement the principles of scientificity, advanced nature, economy, operability, forward-lookingness, and coordination. With the revision of this standard, the original reference part should be fully cleared.

When talking about the requirements for revision of the standard, Liu Runfeng emphasized: “The National Kitchen Appliances Standard involves multiple products, which is rare in the standard system revision work. Each member of the drafting group should keep in mind the basic principles of standard setting. In the new standard, we must pay special attention to health, safety, and environmental protection. At present, there is a big difference in the market of household kitchen equipment. We hope to establish a more reasonable threshold for the industry through this revision of standards, and to establish a correct orientation for the development of the industry. Standards should represent the development direction of the industry, and we must consider protecting the interests of consumers."

After determining the necessity and basic principles for the revision of this standard, the participants separately discussed the terminology, general technical requirements, test methods and inspection rules, design and installation in GB/T18884-2002 "Home Kitchen Equipment" national standards. Make preliminary suggestions for modification. The members of the drafting team not only included cabinet manufacturers, but also participated in the participation of hardware accessories manufacturers and electrical appliance suppliers, which provided a very solid foundation for the revision of standards. The members of the drafting group put forward a lot of positive revision opinions on the standards from the perspective of the industry in light of the actual situation. It is understood that after this meeting, the drafting group will work on the preparation of new standards and complete the first draft in mid-January 2011.
